A few Words About Us

Create, Share, Learn

Our Club provides members of our community aged 50 and over the opportunity to pursue their woodworking hobby in a shared space workshop. We welcome people with all levels of woodworking skill, although we do expect people to come with some base knowledge.

It’s a place where we support each other, share ideas and methods of working and have a laugh or two over a cup of coffee.

It’s a place were we can learn from others and improve our woodworking skills.

40+ years of woodworking & Going Strong

In 1984 The Cambridge Seniors Woodworking Club opened it’s first wood shop at Allan Reuters Centre (ARC), in what was the old Preston police station garage, through a collaboration with the City of Cambridge. With support of the City, and government grants toward equipment, the shop was soon ready for use with seven workbenches and 17 floor standing machines.

The Club started with 14 members and within 4 years grew to 198 causing the Club to look for additional Shop Space. Discussion with the City led to the establishment of the Shop at the David Durward Centre (DDC) in 1993 in the basement of what had been the Public Utilities Building.

The DDC Shop has 21 workbenches and 29 floor standing machines. With over 297 square meters, the David Durward shop is about three times the size of the ARC Shop.
